Hercules and Cerberus - Ο Ηρακλής και ο Κέρβερος

   Wanting to get rid of Hercules once and for all, Eurestheus decided to send him on, what he was thinking, was one of the most difficult labor. He ordered Hercules to go to the underworld and bring back alive Cerberus.

   Cerberus was a huge dog with three heads that was guarding the gates of Hades. He found an abyss that was leading to the underworld.
   There he was able to explain to Hades that he had to take Cerberus to his king Eurestheus. Hades understood, and told him to take Cerberus if he could capture him without hurting him. He told Hercules to leave his weapons behind and go ahead to try and catch the dog.

   Hercules started to chase Cerberus and when he caught up with him, grabbed him by the neck and squeezed it hard enough that the dog lost consciousness. He then was able to carry the unconscious animal to Eurestheus.
   When he saw the huge dog, Eurestheus was so scared that he told Hercules to take it back to Hades...

   Θέλοντας να ξεφορτωθεί τον Ηρακλή μια για πάντα, ο Ευρυσθέας αποφάσισε να τον στείλει σε, όπως νόμιζε, έναν από τους πιο δύσκολους άθλους. Διέταξε τον Ηρακλή να πάει στον κάτω κόσμο και να φέρει ζωντανό τον Κέρβερο.

   Ο Κέρβερος ήταν ένα τεράστιο σκυλί με τρία κεφάλια που φύλαγε τις πύλες του Άδη. Βρήκε μια άβυσσο που οδηγούσε στον κάτω κόσμο.
   Εκεί μπόρεσε να εξήγησει στον Άδη πως έπρεπε να πάρει τον Κέρβερο στον βασιλιά του τον Ευρυσθέα. Ο Άδης κατάλαβε, και του είπε να πάρει τον Κέρβερο αν μπορέσει να τον πιάσει χωρίς να τον πληγώσει. Είπε στον Ηρακλή να αφήσει τα όπλα του, και να πάει να προσπαθήσει να πιάσει το σκυλί.

   Ο Ηρακλής άρχισε να κυνηγά τον Κέρβερο, και όταν τον έφτασε τον άρπαξε από τον λαιμό και τον έσφιξε τόσο δυνατά, που το σκυλί έχασε τις αισθήσεις του. Έπειτα μπόρεσε να μεταφέρει το αναίσθητο ζώο στον Ευρυσθέα.
   Όταν είδε το τεράστιο σκυλί ο Ευρθυσθέας φοβήθηκε τόσο πολύ, που είπε στον Ηρακλή να το πάει πίσω στον Άδη...
