Lesson 27 - Greek Grammar

   The Reflexive pronouns ( οι Αυτοπαθείς Αντωνυμίες ) show that the action returns to the person that acted. They are:

   The Nominative ( ο εαυτός ) case is not used often. Follow the tables below to see the declension and examples of the Reflexive pronouns.


  Table 27.2 shows the declension of the Reflexive pronouns.

(of myself)
του εαυτού σου
(of yourself)
του εαυτού του, του εαυτού της, του εαυτού του
(of himself, of herself, of itself)
τον εαυτό μου (myself) τον εαυτό σου (yourself) τον εαυτό του, τον εαυτό της, τον εαυτό του (himself, herself, itself)
Plural number - Πληθυντικός αριθμός
του εαυτού μας or
των εαυτών μας
(of ourself or
of ourselves)
του εαυτού σας or
των εαυτών σας
(of yourself or
of yourselves)
του εαυτού τους or
των εαυτών τους
(of theirself or
of themselves)

  Table 27.3 shows examples of the Reflexive pronouns.

  The Greek language does not use the reflexive pronouns that much. Simply, because we can supplement with some of the Personal pronouns ( Εγώ, εσύ, αυτός...) or some of the Definite pronouns ( μόνος, μόνη, μόνο ).
   Example: Πήγα στο σχολείο μόνος μου (I went to school by myself).
