The Adjectives - Τα Επίθετα

Lesson 17 - Greek Grammar

Let's take a break from the difficult lessons now.
This is an easy one.
Adjectives (τα Επίθετα) are words that describe a noun. Example:
good man, tall boy, red car. The words good, tall, and red, describe the nouns man, boy, and car; therefore as we said, they are adjectives. Whatever is an adjective in English, is an adjective in Greek also.

One of the characteristics of adjectives is that they can be all three genders. Thus an adjective can be Masculine, Feminine and Neuter.
Here are some examples:

Table 17.1

The adjectives follow the same rules of declension as the nouns.
If an adjective describes a masculine noun, it becomes masculine and it gets declined according to the rules of Masculine nouns. The same goes for Feminine nouns  and Neuter nouns.
If you did not study too well the declension of the nouns, please go back and do so.
