Sentences in Present Perfect

   Present Perfect lets us create sentences that describe something that happened recently and now has finished. The Present Perfect uses the present tense of the auxiliary verb "έχω" in front of the verb. 

The Sentence

"I have slept"

The Basic Pattern

Pronoun verb in Present Perfect noun, verb or Adjective.

The Translation

In English Ihave slept.
In Greek εγώ έχω κοιμηθεί.

In English Ihave played
In Greek εγώ έχω παίξει


In English Ihave readthis book.
In Greek εγώ έχω διαβάσει αυτό το βιβλίο.


In English Theyhave seen this picture.
In Greek Αυτοί έχουν δει αυτή τη φωτογραφία.

Present Perfect Tense with two verbs.

In English Shehas goneto study.
In Greek Αυτή έχει πάει να μελετήσει


In English Theyhave goneto get dressed.
In Greek Αυτοί έχουν πάει να ντυθούν

   Did you notice in the above two examples that the second verb is translated as subjunctive mood of the past simple? Use the subjunctive mood of the Present Tense when the action is continuous. Use the subjunctive mood of the Past Tense when the action takes place once. Use the appropriate voice.

Present Perfect with an Adjective or an Adverb.

In English Ihave studiedwell
In Greek εγώ έχω μελετήσει καλά


In English Shehas become smart.
In Greek Αυτή έχει γίνει έξυπνη.
