Sentences in Present Tense

   Let's begin to learn to form sentences by taking a simple English sentence and try to analyze it:

The Sentence With a Noun

"I am going to school."

The Basic Pattern

Pronoun verb in Present Noun, verb or Adjective

The Translation

In English I amgoing to school.
In Greek εγώ πηγαίνω στο σχολείο.

Similar Sentences

In English I amgoing to work.
In Greek εγώ πηγαίνω στη δουλειά.


In English I amgoing to the theater.
In Greek εγώ πηγαίνω στο θέατρο.

Present Tense with two verbs.

In English I amgoing to see thegame.
In Greek εγώ πηγαίνω να δω το παιχνίδι.


In English I am going to read a little.
In Greek εγώ πηγαίνω να διαβάσω λίγο.

   Did you notice in the above two examples that the second verb is translated as subjunctive mood of the past simple? Use the subjunctive mood of the Present Tense when the action is continuous. Use the subjunctive mood of the Past Tense when the action takes place once. Use the appropriate voice.

Present Tense with an Adjective or an Adverb.

In English He is good.
In Greek Αυτός είναι καλός.


In English She is well.
In Greek Αυτή είναι καλά.
