The Interjections

Lesson 38 - Greek Grammar

  The Interjections (Τα Επιφωνήματα) show different feelings, pain, admiration, praise. The Greek Interjections are:

Table 38.1
Μπράβο = Bravo
Α μπά! = Like we say "nah!"
άντε, άιντε = c'mon
Αχ = Shows pain, or wish
Μακάρι = God Grant, may, hopefully
Αλίμονο = Alack, alas
Εύγε = Bravo, well done
είθε = God Grant, may, amen


   At the end of the interjections we usually use exclamation mark ( ! ). Sometimes we use ellipsis ( ... ) or question mark ( ; ).
Examples: Εύγε!, άιντε...
