The Definite Pronouns

Lesson 23 - Greek Grammar

   There are two Definite pronouns in the Greek language. ( οι Οριστικές Αντωνυμίες ) :

Ο ίδιος, η ίδια, το ίδιο (same) and,
μόνος, μόνη, μόνο (alone).

   Check table 23.1 for examples:

  The definite pronouns are declined the same way as the adjectives and the nouns (Some, do not have the vocative case).
   The pronoun "μόνος" is followed by the weak form of the personal pronouns and is translated : by myself ( μόνος μου ), by yourself ( μόνος σου ), by itself ( μόνο του ), by themselves ( μόνοι τους ), etc.
