Greek Mythology - The Trojan War

Chapter 25

In English

The heroes returned from Achilles' tent and brought the bad news to Agamemnon. In the mean time, the Trojans were camping outside of the city walls for the night. The Greek kings decided to send spies to the Trojan camp. Diomedes and Οdysseus would go and see if they could get any information about their plans. When they got there, they killed the king of Thrace, Resos (Ρήσος), who was there to help the Trojans. The two heroes returned to the Greek camp.

In the morning the war started again. The Trojans, with the help of Zeus, were pushing the Greeks back towards their ships. Hector was the greatest warrior that day among the Trojans. Many Greek heroes lost their lives from his sword. On the Greek side, Agamemnon was fighting like a lion. Agamemnon got hurt and left the battlefield. Hector saw Agamemnon leaving and chased him. Odysseus though called Diomedes to help him. Diomedes tried to kill Hector. He threw his spear and hit Hector on the helmet. Realizing that Hector was being protected by the gods, he went after other Trojans killing a few of them. While he was going to take their armor and their weapons, Paris aimed at him with an arrow. Dιomedes got hit and left the battle.

Odysseus and Aias were the heroes that, with their army, were left in the battlefield. Odysseus also got hurt. Aias helped him to survive the Trojans that saw him wounded and went after him to finish him off. With only Aias now in the battlefield, the Greek army started to retreat.

Achilles was watching from his tent. Even though he was still angry with Agamemnon, he was very sad to watch the Greeks losing the war.

The Trojans were now inside the Greek camp. The Greeks were fighting with all their might to keep them from getting deeper in to their camp. But the Trojans with their leader Hector, and Zeus' help, were pushing towards the ships that were out of the water...
